Kate Middleton is known for her iconic blow-dried, tousled hairstyle, and while Meghan Markle occasionally tries out new variations, the Duchess of Cambridge is never seen at a public engagement with her hair up. While Royal protocol has prevented Kate from letting her hair down in other ways, such as running a marathon or wearing wedges around The Queen, some Royal Family fans have noticed that her hair is never seen tied up in any way. However, the reason for this could be because of a three-inch scar the Duchess of Cambridge has on the side of her head as a result of a childhood operation, which was first spotted back in 2011, when it was mistaken for hair extensions. After Kate Middleton’s head scar was spotted in 2011, Kensington Palace released a statement revealing that it was as a result of a ‘childhood operation’, but did not confirm what kind of procedure the Duchess had undergone. John Scurr, consultant surgeon at the Lister Hospital in London said that the scar was unlikely to be as a result of a tumour. ‘I really doubt it was any serious medical condition and I would say it is as a result of an arteriovenous malformation – a birthmark – being removed. ‘It is remarkable, given the measurement, that no-one has noticed before,’ he said when fans first saw the scar in a picture when Kate was conducting her first solo engagement as a member of the Royal Family at Clarence House, in aid of Kind Direct. Prince William, sporting an old scar over his left eye, the result of an accident with a golf club ‘I call it [my Harry Potter scar] because it glows sometimes and some people notice it — other times they don’t notice it at all. I got hit by a golf club when I was playing golf with a friend of mine. ‘We were on a putting green and the next thing you know there was a seven-iron and it came out of nowhere and it hit me in the head. So, yeah, I was in the hospital for that, but that was very minor compared to how many times you’ve been in the hospital.’ Advertisement Share or comment on this article:
