Question that prompted Roxanne Pallett’s breakdown during Emma Willis grilling

Question that prompted Roxanne Pallett’s breakdown during Emma Willis grilling

Roxanne Pallett was left tearing up this evening after struggling to answer claims made by her former soap co-stars. The 35-year-old Emmerdale actress, who admitted she was the “most hated woman in Britain”, was grilled by Emma Willis this evening in a pre-recorded interview. Bringing up the fact that other co-stars she had worked with in the past had accused her of violence, Emma asked what she would say to them. This includes Sam Attwater, who claimed she had hit him while they were touring with Rocky Horror together. Roxanne Pallett teared up after the question was asked

Struggling to answer, she eventually replied: “Devastating – no one wants to hear that… especially from people you worked with.” She added, getting tearful: “I’m the most hated girl in Britain now.” Over the last few days, she faced the wrath of the public after saying Ryan had “punched her five or six times” and insisted that he had deliberately tried to hurt her.

Emma pointed out that Roxanne had left “a lot of things unanswered” and questioned her what had been going through her mind when she made the accusations. “Watching it feels like a completely different scenario to it was at the time,” Roxanne replied, but Emma probed her on how – two days later – she still got it “so wrong”. Especially when she reenacted what had happened on Ben. The former soap actress insisted that it had hurt, adding: “I convinced myself he meant to do it.” But Emma then asked her why she gained that new perspective from watching it. “Because I saw what every single person saw and I don’t blame anyone for [criticising my actions],” she said. “I’m more shocked at myself more than anyone.” Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now She added: “I have to think about why I used humour than something more serious happened in my mind.” Questioned why she hadn’t gone up to Ryan about the incident, she said: “That’s something I’ve asked myself… I think it’s because I didn’t think he liked me… I convinced myself it was malice.” “You could have ruined somebody,” Emma responded. “I’m devastated, it cripples me with embarrassment,” she said. Roxanne said that she was ‘crippled with embarrassment’ over her actions

Emma pointed out that she had time over the few days to research, Roxanne admitted that she was “genuinely disturbed” by what she had done and that “hindsight was a wonderful thing”. Asked whether she had reached out to Ryan’s family she said that she “didn’t want to impose” on them. Emma pointed out that they deserved an apology, to which Roxanne pointed out that she gave them one during her interview earlier today, adding: “All I can do is apologise”. “What did your family say?” Emma asked. Roxanne replied: “They were gutted for me.” Roxanne said that her family were ‘gutted’ for her

“Gutted for you?” Emma said pointedly. “Gutted for the whole situation,” Roxanne replied. “My mum knows I’m sensitive.” Emma then brought up the fact that other co-stars she had worked with in the past had accused her of violence and asked what she would say to them. This includes Sam Attwater, who claimed she had hit him while they were touring with Rocky Horror together. “Devastating – no one wants to hear that,” she replied. “Especially from people you worked with.” She added: “I’m the most hated girl in Britain now.” Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now Emma asked: “Do you deserve that title?” “I’m going to try and own it and accept it,” Roxanne said. Asked whether she would forgive herself if she weren’t her, she replied before breaking into tears: “I would want to.” This comes after Roxanne’s much-criticised interview with Jeremy Vine earlier today, despite apologising to Ryan Thomas and his family. The former Emmerdale actress broke her silence in her first interview since walking out of the CBB house. Roxanne appeared on the Channel 5 show and admitted that she “got it wrong” after accusing the ex-Corrie star of deliberately punching her. Appearing on Jeremy Vine on Channel 5, the former Emmerdale star said she “overreacted” to the situation because her “insecurities were heightened” and “judgement was clouded” in the house. Roxy confessed she regrets using the word “deliberate” and that her reaction was a ‘telltale sign of being a victim of domestic abuse’. However, her former Emmerdale co-stars took to Twitter to blast her apology as “lies, lies, lies”. Charlie Webb, who plays Debbie Dingle, wrote: “What about all the other accusations you’ve made along the years? Backtracking because no-one’s on your side. If those cameras hadn’t have been there, he would be finished. End of. #Roxanne.” He’s worried his career has been tarnished

Meanwhile Sammy Winward, who played Katie Sugden, tweeted: “Lies lies lies.” Ryan’s brother Adam wrote: “Jeremy Vine too scared to speak up too PC pathetic interview!! “To everyone that knows her and knows the real her and the lies and the stories she has spun for several years it is so frustrating to watch. Good scene tho Rox annnddddd cut!![sic]”.

Roxanne Pallett and Ryan Thomas’s CBB beef Denise Welch, who previously appeared on Corrie, slammed the apology on Loose Women today. She said Ryan’s life would be “in tatters” had Roxanne made the Punchgate claims in a CBB room that didn’t have cameras. The panellist stood up for Ryan, calling him a “gentleman”, while slamming Roxanne’s apology on today’s Jeremy Vine Show – and hinted there was yet more to come out about Roxy’s past behaviour. “She’s apologised because she was caught out, I feel very strongly about this,” Denise fumed on the ITV chat show. “I haven’t seen the interview but there’s nothing she could say that would convince me it wasn’t the most horrific thing I’ve seen on television.” Denise went on: “I’ve known Ryan for a long time and I’ve been in the CBB house – I know how it can play with your head.”
