Perrie Edwards reveals she’s had throat surgery after years of problems with her oesophagus

Perrie Edwards has had surgery on her throat after years of dealing with problems with her oesophagus.  The Little Mix star, 25, made the announcement on Thursday as she confessed she was consoling herself with a chocolate dessert after going under the knife. In an Instagram snap, she posed with her hospital wristband still on, the songstress rested with her head in her hands as she looked whimsically towards the camera whilst going make-up free.

Perrie captioned the image: ‘Only I would have an operation then ask to be taken to the ivy for my favourite chocolate bomb dessert!  ‘My oesophagus can’t come between me and my love of food. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’. The BRIT Award winning singer later shared funny clips of her mother snoring next to her after revealing her mum wanted to stay by her side for the night following the operation.  She captioned the clip: ‘my mam wanting to “keep an eye on me” and “make sure I’m okay tonight”‘ Bless her / She’s had a long day / I swear if she doesn’t stop snoring ama have to start swinging / I love her’.

MailOnline has contacted Perrie’s representatives for comment.   The singer has a large scar across her stomach that is the result of surgery she underwent as a child to help widen her esophagus as she could not digest food properly.

In an interview, the blonde beauty revealed: ‘My (biggest body-hang up) is my scar on my stomach. When I was little, my oesophagus was too small, so I had to get it operated on to help me eat properly. I had to have lots of operations, so that’s why I don’t want to show it.’ Perrie also had her tonsils removed in 2012, admitting she was left very ‘sore’ by the procedure.  In a tweet at the time, she penned: ‘Getting your tonsils taken out sucks! ‪#SORE‬ Thanks for all the lovely messages & I’m sorry to miss some of our gigs! Love u mixers Perrie [sic].’
