Sally Carman and Joe Duttine, two stars from the ITV series Coronation Street, are said to have found love on the soap.
Sally, who plays Abi Franklin, and Joe, who portrays Tim Metcalfe, reportedly went on a string of secret dates before seemingly confirming their relationship at the show’s summer party last week. The pair were photographed holding hands at the Coronation Street summer party last Friday outside Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse. An insider said: “Both Joe and Sally had been single for a while and just met at the right time in their lives. “Sally thinks Joe is a funny and caring guy and he’s really fallen for her, too.” The source went on to tell The Sun: “They’ve now told their castmates and everyone thinks it’s a match made in heaven.” However, the couple are not the only Coronation Street stars who have fallen in love on set as Nicola Thorp and her co-star Charlie de Melo recently became an item.
Nichola, who played Pat Phelan’s daughter Nicola Rubinstein, before leaving the show earlier this year, regularly posts pictures of herself cosying up to Charlie on social media. Just days ago the 29-year-old actress uploaded a sweet picture of herself snuggling Charlie in the middle of a field to Instagram. Starring deeply into Charlie’s eyes, Nichola looked blissfully happy as she wrapped a tender arm around her handsome boyfriend. She looked effortlessly chic in a sequinned dress and paired the stylish outfit with a multi-coloured patterned bumbag and trainers. Meanwhile, Charlie wore a sleeveless shirt over a Scottish kilt and completed the look with his own waist bag and tie-up boots. In the past Nicola has joked that any boyfriend she had would have to deal with Connor McIntyre, who played murderous Pat.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine last year, Nicola quipped: “If I get a boyfriend, God help them, they’ll have to meet my real dad and my on-screen dad. “I don’t know which will be scarier.” Nicola recently confirmed her exit from Coronation Street with an emotional post on social media, captioning a montage: “Thanks to the cast and crew and everyone at Coronation Street for making the cobbles feel like home this past year. “I’m lucky to call you my friends.” Ending the heartfelt message, she concluded: “Thanks to the audience and fans for all the love and support. From this Nicola (and the other one) see you later, Weatherfield.”
