Britain’s longest married couple rebounds after 88 years after husband expires at 106

Following an astounding 88 years together, Britain's longest married couple have been parted after the husband died suddenly aged 106.

Maurice and Helen Kaye married in 1936, also were put to observe their 84th wedding anniversary when Mr Kaye passed off. His 105-year old spouse has since moved into a care home because she could not face living in their apartment independently. Despite his advancing years, Mr Kaye’s departure took family members . Only six weeks before that he and Mrs Kaye had travelled from their house in Bournemouth, Dorset, to attend their grandson’s wedding in London. His daughter, Tina Son, stated her mom feels like she’s lost a limb. The couple pictured in their wedding day in August 1934 (Picture: BNPS) The couple had been pictured together in their grandson Avi’s wedding in June this season (Picture: BNPS) Read She explained:”He had been 106 and everyone said they believed he was likely to go on indefinitely as he had been the most wonderful guy and was very fit because of his age. “My mom came to London for the son’s wedding only five or six months ago. ”

But in the last 10 days of his life, he became really ill, quite abruptly. “He had been taken to hospital and even though he did rally somewhat, at the previous four or five times it was quite apparent that he had been coming into the end of his lifetime. “My mom is not too bad, however she feels depressed and lonely and feels like she’s lost a limb. “They were married for nearly 84 years but they were together for 88 years from when they first started going out. It’s a really long time to come with somebody and they aren’t there anymore. The few, pictured together 2014, appreciated a’lovely’ union together “She’s moved into a residential care home because she did not wish to be hauled in the apartment by herself thinking about him all the time. “There are people she knows in the house and she may have a small life. “They moved into the apartment 15 years back when they were obsolete 90 and 91. In that time we mentioned them that they had been angry moving in their age but they’d 15 quite happy years living there.”

The couple met in 1930 when Mr Kaye, as an 18-year old traveling salesman, used to determine his future wife while she worked in her dad’s womenswear company in London. They were wed on August 27, 1934, at a London Synagogue. When war was announced in 1939, Mr Kaye joined the military but was granted compassionate leave if their south London house was murdered before D-Day in 1944. The couple were together for 88 years before Mr Kaye’s departure (Picture: BNPS) Meanwhile, his comrades went to Normandy along with his detachment vanished – and he afterwards discovered they’d been murdered. Together they owned and ran a series of five womenswear stores in town. Within their retirement they spent their days playing bridge and spending some time with their two kids, Tina, 63, and Larry, 70, their 10 toddlers and seven great-grandchildren. Mr Kaye had a flying lesson because of his 90th birthday. In the time of the 80th wedding anniversary 2014 Mrs Kaye explained:”It has been a superb union – when I understood the key to a happy marriage I’d bottle it and sell it”
